Victor Osimhen on Saturday returned to competitive football for the first time since he suffered a muscle injury during a game with Nigeria in last month’s international break npflupdates.com reports.
Osimhen suffered a muscle injury during Nigeria’s 2-2 draw against the Green Falcons of Saudi Arabia last month. An injury that saw him leave the Super Eagles camp in Portugal earlier than required as precautionary measure so as to avoid escalating the injury.

The former Olympique Lille forward has since then remained on the sidelines, emotionally supporting Jos darling Napoli and Super Eagles teams.
However, on Saturday (today), the former Golden Eaglets forward returned to action for Napoli, as he started from the bench.
First half goal by winger Kvicha gave Napoli the lead against Atalanta, as they went into the break ahead.
However a 54th minute strike by Nigerian winger Ademola Lookman, restored parity to the game. Osimhen, would come on for Giacomo Raspadori; and in the 79th minute, he assisted midfielder Elmas and Napoli’s winning and second of the night.
Two things to note as Osimhen returns from injury
Two important things can be noted with the return of the former Royale Sporting Charleroi; and they are:
First, it will be noted that injury never held him down as his immediate impact in the team was felt with his assist for Elmas. Exhuming a characteristic which motivated him into winning the highest goalscorer award in the Italian Serie A last season.

Secondly, his return is a very big boost for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, who is gunning towards a fourth African Cup Of Nations (AFCON) next year.
The Super Eagles will hope to win a fourth AFCON title when the tournament starts next year in Ivory Coast.
And with Nottingham Forest’s striker Taiwo Awoniyi ruled out of the tournament by injury, Osimhen will likely get a new partner in the Super Eagles attack.
