Talking to the media about the tournament’s Group A teams, and what his expectations are, Jean-Louis argued that Nigeria and Ivory Coast are expected to make it to the knockout stages.
At the AFCON Ivory Coast will not focus only on Nigeria
However, the French man, explained his team will not look down on any smaller opponent, to avoid surprises.
“You expect it to be Nigeria and Cote d’lvoire but it doesn’t work that way, so we have to respect the other teams in the group and not focus more on the game against Nigeria, Guinea Bissau is our immediate concern”, the coach said in quotes in the French media.
Speaking about the Super Eagles attack, Jean-Louis, cried it will be difficult to cage them. According to the 70-year-old tactician, Nigeria has the ability to play with four strikers, hence making it almost impossible to stop.
“Nigeria can play with four strikers and that is a problem for most teams because they can score from any angle not a particular player say Osimhen,” he said.
“We have to find a way like every other team that has played against them. We play against them in our second game”, the 70 year old concluded.
In another story, former Super Eagles forward, Odion Ighalo, threw his weight behind NPFL players who he said are supposed to earn national team invitation.
According to the former Manchester United player, it’s not right and a sign of neglect for no outfield NPFL player to make the 2023 AFCON provisional list.

“I don’t think it is right not to invite any home-based player. Not inviting them means you don’t focus on the league. You don’t focus on the league; you don’t trust them. You don’t encourage them,” Ighalo told OmaSports TV.
