The 26-year-old defender, was however substituted at half-time by coach Eguavoen. And according to Eguavoen, the substitution was tactical, and not because of the player’s performance.
Why Osho was substituted at half-time against Benin Republic
Eguavoen explained that Osho was substituted so as to accommodate a change in team’s formation.
“Osho is a very good player, who I have been following, I even told him even before he came that in the absence of Semi Ajayi, he will start against Benin,” Eguavoen told Eagle7fm Sports Radio
“He trained only once and then played.
“He was substituted not because he was not playing well but because I reverted to a back four so as to get something from the game.
“We started with 3-4-3, then changed to 4-3-3 and in the last 15, 20 minutes we changed to 4-4-2 with Victor Boniface joining Osimhen to give us more numbers inside the box.”

Eguavoen added; “Julius Berger are set to close down the Godswill Akpabio stadium in Uyo, on Friday, ahead of the Super Eagles AFCON qualifier against Rwanda, due to the Akwa Ibom state government’s failure to renew the 10-year maintenance contract which expired in May 2024.”
