Super Eagles interim manager Augustine Eguavoen warns against unnecessary distraction as he prepare for AFCON qualifier game against Libya; npflupdates.com reports.
The Super Eagles will welcome the Mediterranean Knights of Libya at the Godswill Akpabio stadium tomorrow.
The three-time African champions sits top of their group with four points from two games; and hopes to do a double over Libya.
Speaking to the media, coach Eguavoen talked about the positions in the national team.
According to the former international, it doesn’t matter who takes charge of the team; he however, canvassed for full support to whomever that controls the dugout.
What Eguavoen said about distractions in the Super Eagles
“We don’t want distractions, whoever is in the position right now to do the job, just support him. Players or coaches it doesn’t really matter because all of us are tying to achieve the same one goal.
“Distractions, I don’t think it’s the best thing right now. People throw up some things and then people in different platforms take it up and then it becomes a debate. It is not necessary, it is not healthy,” he said.
Ekong insist Ahmed Musa is still Nigeria’s captain
In a other story that connects with the Super Eagles, defender William Troost-Ekong has revealed he’s not yet the authentic captain od the national team.
According to the former PAOK Thessaloniki player, Kano Pillars forward, Ahmed Musa remains as the Captain.
Musa has been away from the national team post 2023 AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire. The former CSKA Moscow man has been without a club after leaving Turkish side Sivasspor; but made a return to action with the former NPFL champions last weekend.
“We’re happy he’s back,” Ekong said at today’s media parley in Ikot Ekpene.
“He’s still our captain and he’s welcome back any time.
