Moroka Swallows shot-stopper Daniel Akpeyi is upbeat that he can still add value to the goalkeeping department of the Super Eagles of Nigeria npflupdates.com reports.
Akpeyi 37, was with the Super Eagles squad that finished third at the 2019 edition of the African Cup Of Nations (AFCON). And he is optimistic that he’s turned into a better player today than he was some few years ago.

The former Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper, told Goal.com in an interview that all he needs at this point is an opportunity to get a recall to the national team.

Based on his statement, Akpeyi acknowledged that today is better than yesterday.

“I think I’m better than yesterday. Today is better than yesterday. It’s just that (I’m) waiting for the opportunity, “the shot-stopper told reporters ahead of Swallows’ clash with his former club, Kaizer Chiefs.
Recall, the former Flying Eagles goalie suffered criticism after his error made Nigeria lose its semifinal match against Riyad Mahrez’s Algeria in 2019.

After the match, Akpeyi had apologised to Nigerians for his costly error, and wished the free-kick which resulted to the goal be retaken by Mahrez.
Nigeria will hope to win its fourth AFCON title next year in Ivory Coast. Before that, the three-time African champions will have to survive its Group A opponents in host nation Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau.
