Flying Eagles head coach Ladan Bosso has invited Bulgaria-based Nigerian players Umeh Emmanuel and Tochukwu Nnadi to the national camp ahead of FIFA U-20 World Cup.
The tactician after the AFCON U-20 tournament in Egypt, promised to strengthen the squad ahead if the FIFA U-20 W’Cup. And that promise he is fulfilling by inviting fresh legs into the team.
Nigeria is placed in the same Group D widely referred to as “Group of Death” by pundits alongside Dominican Republic, Italy and five-time champions Brazil. And in a bid not to fail and disappoint Nigerians, Bosso is beefing up the squad in key areas.
Bosso last week opened the Flying Eagles camp with home-based players. And he is expecting that invited foreign-based pros will hit the camp this week ahead of the showpiece next month.
Bulgarian club Botev Plovdiv in a statement confirmed, it’s players have been invited to Flying Eagles.

“Ume Emmanuel and Tochukwu Nnadi call-ups at Argentina World Cup,” the statement read in parts.
“Nigerian Botev(Plovdiv) footballers Ume Ume Emmanuel and Tochukwu Nnadi have received call-ups for the Nigeria under-20 national team.
“The Super Eagles, who finished third at the Africa under-20 cup of Nations in Egypt last month, are one of four African teams that will compete in the finals alongside Senegal, Gambia and Tunisia.
“The race will be held in Argentina from May 20 to June 11, 2023.”
And confirming when the players will join the national team camp Botev Plovdiv said. “Botev’s football players will travel to Nigeria immediately after the visit of Slavia’s Canaries in a 27th round match of the Premier League on April 24(Monday).
And while explaining the reason behind the players’ invitation, Bosso, said it’s to make sure scoring goals isn’t a problem. Recall at the AFCON U-20, Nigeria strikers managed only two goals in six matches. And Bosso is keen on making amends ahead of the World Cup.
“Umeh is a striker. And it’s clear to see that at the AFCON that was one of our problems. For Nnadi, he is a midfielder and we don’t have a clear picture on of Daniel(Daga) will be fit. And I don’t want to take a risk in that department,” he said.
Nigeria will face Dominican Republic on 21 May at the Estadio Malvinas Argentinas in Mendoza. And two days after, they will entertain Italy at the same venue. Their last group game will be against five-time champions Brazil.
