Peseiro upbeat Super Eagles can beat host nation Ivory Coast

Super Eagles head coach, José Peseiro has admitted his team lacks the standard quality in the midfield area npflupdates.com reports.

Peseiro during a pre-match press conference in Abidjan, Saturday morning confirmed he’ll be providing the needed stability in the national team.

According to the former Sporting CP manager, every football in the world lack top qualities in some areas in their set-up.

The former Venezuela coach, also expressed confidence in his side, saying his boys are committed to the task of executing the AFCON.

What Peseiro said about Super Eagles team ahead of AFCON first fixture

“I believe in the players. Each team has more quality in certain positions. My job is to find the balance,” he was quoted by journalist Osasu Obayiuwana.

Peseiro also revealed to the media that Paul Onuachu who’s the replacement for injured Sadiq Umar alongside Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho has arrived Abidjan.

Meanwhile, Super Eagles Captain, Ahmed Musa told the media that Nigeria is in high spirit and ready for the Equatorial Guinea fixture.

According to the former VVV Venlo forward, the team cannot afford to be making noise in social media. But will showcase their talents and hunger for success on  the pitch.

“We cannot be making noise on social media about what we are going to do at the #AFCON2023. We have to prove ourselves on the pitch,” the former Fatih Karagumruk winger said during a pre-match presser.

In another story, the Nigeria Football Federation NFF, has removed all the national team assistant coaches from earning monthly salary.

According to the federation, it’s a way of cutting costs. President of the Federation, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, told assistant coaches to find other jobs as they will only earn invitational allowances.

“I told them (national team coaches) that for us to see that we manage this situation, we are only going to pay the senior coaches salaries, all other assistants will be engaged on invitational allowance, they should go and do other jobs,” Gusau said.

“We won’t put them on monthly salaries. We want to reduce that problem, so that at the end of the day I know if the coaches salaries is N10m and I have N50m, I know I can pay them for five months, not paying people for doing nothing. Even if you are the head coach of a team and you are working with another team where you are paid salaries, we are going to put you on allowance, not salary. In that case, if we are supposed to pay you N1m, we will pay you N500,000. So, thats what we are looking at to manage the situation.”
