Super Eagles dribble-king Henry Onyekuru is not giving up on his hopes of making a return to the national team ahead of the 2023 African Cup Of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast npflupdates.com reports.
Onyekuru was part of the Super Eagles squad that achieved a podium bronze medal finish in the 2019 edition of the AFCON hosted in Egypt.

Also, the former AS Monaco winger was with the Augustine Egueavoen’s side that got knocked out in the knockout stages of the 2021 AFCON hosted in Cameroon.
The former Adana Demirspor forward, has fallen out of favour and lacked national team invitation since the arrival of Portuguese tactician Jose Peseiro as Super Eagles coach.
Still, he has refused to lose hope of getting a late Super Eagles call-up despite the low ratings Nigerians ascribe to the Saudi Arabian league where he currently ply his trade with Al Feiha. Also in the Al Feiha team, was a Super Eagles forward and former Trabzonspor forward, Anthony Nwakaeme.

“I was there at the last AFCON in Cameroon, and I am really pushing to be there again,” Onyekuru told Arab News.
“In Nigerian football, there is still this negative mentality about the Saudi league – they don’t think it is as intense.
Speaking further, Onyekuru suggested that Nigerians give more attention to the Saudi Pro League; stressing that he’s not giving up on his 2023 AFCON dreams.
“But I think they should be able to see that now. The players who play here make it competitive. I am not giving up, and anything can happen.”
In another story, Officials of a Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) outfit Abia Warriors last week exchanged brawls with Rangers International.
A video that surfaced online on Monday, captured the moment, the two sides exchanged blows.
A source who was present at the time of the incident told our correspondent that Rangers International had walked onto the turf of the Umuahia community stadium chanting songs. A situation which angered the officials of the host club.

“This act didn’t go down well with the Abia warriors officials and this happened ,” a X (formerly Twitter) user @54footballx said in a post.
