Napoli Striker Victor Osimhen has said his goals for both his club and country can come whether from the spot-kick or open play.
The current Serie A highest goalscorer disclosed this as he revealed the reason he allowed teammate Piotr Zielinsiki, take a penalty kick on Wednesday night.
At the Diego Armando Maradona stadium Wednesday night against Eintracht Frankfurt, Napoli was awarded a spot-kick after Zielinsiki was brought down in the box. And Osimhen who was already on a brace, needed just a goal to complete his hat-trick. But, stepped away to allow Zielinsiki have it.
A Hat-trick for Osimhen would’ve made him the first Nigerian to score a UEFA Champions League hat-trick after Yakubu Aiyegbeni. He would have also become the first Nigerian to score a hat-trick in a UEFA Champions League knockout stages.

Why Osimhen will always score goals:
Speaking on what transpired in the pitch, the 24-year-old said Zielinsiki had pleaded with him to allow him take it.
“Zielinsiki asked me if he can take it,” he told BT Sports in an interview.
“I know my goals will come with or without penalties.”
Osimhen’s first goal from the Eintracht Frankfurt encounter came with just few minutes to the first period break.
He rose so high to the dismay of opposition defenders, to head home a cross from teammate Di Lorenzo. But, early into the second half, he doubled his tally from an easy finish.
Osimhen will hope to continue with his goal-scoring form going into this weekend’s Serie A fixture. And importantly, for the national team of Nigeria.
Nigeria will go head-to-head with Guinea-Bissau on 24 and 27 March. The two nations seek to clinch a ticket for the next edition of AFCON tournament.
