Burnley FC midfielder, Nathan Temitayo Adewale Tella, has publicly made his intentions of representing Nigeria in international football known.
Born in Lambeth, London, in July 1999, to Nigerian parents, Nathan Tella is eligible to represent Nigeria. And he is also eligible to playing for England through his place of birth.
But it seems he’s interested in the Green and White colours of the Super Eagles. He’s yet to represent England or any other state at the youth level. So switching his allegiance to Nigeria will not be a herculean task.
On loan from Southampton FC, the 23-year-old is on top form for Burnley FC. He helped the Skybet Championship team gain promotion back to the EPL.
In the course if Burnley’s race to promotion, Tella scored a total of 17 goals in 37 appearances. And he also, has contributed to another Burnley’s 5 goals through assists.
Nathan Tella Makes Public Announcement About Super Eagles:
“Yeah, its true,” Tella told Daily Echo while admitting Nigeria’s interest in 2022.
“I haven’t been contacted as such. But I’m in the process of sorting out my passport for them. Obviously, I would like to have the chance. If I’m called up to be able to play for Nigeria.

“I would love to play international football. That’s always been a dream of mine. If I went away with Nigeria, it would be something new. And new experiences bring out the best in players.”
His public pronouncement has left the ball in the courts of the Nigeria Football Federation NFF, and Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro. Whether or not he will be invited for the next AFCON qualifier fixture against Sierra Leone is still a doubt.
Tella was born to a Nigerian parents of Yoruba extraction. He’s a staunch Christian, and believes in the faith.
The 23-year-old at the youth level didn’t make any appearance for the Junior Lions of England.
