And the Portuguese manager, lived up to expectations as enshrined in his previous contract with the NFF.
Prior to the AFCON, reports emerge that Egyptian outfit Zamalek is interested in the former Saudi Arabia national team coach. Though the Portuguese rebuffed such claims, stressing that he’s focused on helping Nigeria win a fourth AFCON title.
Post AFCON, speculations linked the former Sporting CP gaffer to the Algeria national team vacant job. Recall, Algeria parted ways with its coach Djamel Belmadi after a poor outing at the 2023 AFCON.
NFF present new offer to José Peseiro
Earlier this week, SCORENigeria reported that Peseiro has been offered a $50,000(fifty thousand dollars) salary by the NFF.
“He has been offered by the NFF same $50,000 monthly salary because that is what they can afford,” a top source told SCORENigeria
“The ball is now in the court of the coach to accept this or reject it.”
Meanwhile, Peseiro disclosed earlier this week that although he has received up to seven offers, that he is only focused on taking a break.
“I told everyone to come back at the end of the month. What is certain is that I want to continue coaching and I need to choose wisely,” Peseiro told Goal.
“At this moment, I repeat, all options remain possible. I received a lot of options, and a lot of contacts from national teams or clubs.
“I would say 5, 6 or 7, he revealed, without revealing their identity.
“I let them all know that I need to rest and that when my contract expires I will talk about it and start thinking about other projects. And decide my future. For now, I need to take a break and be calm.
“But I listen to the proposals and projects that are offered to me. And I evaluate whether I like it or not.”

In another story, Dutch youth international, Joshua Zirkzee opens up on his intention to have his allegiance to Nigeria.
While speaking to Algemeen Dagblad via soccernews, Zirkzee revealed that he was open to playing for Nigeria only if he doesn’t receive a call-up from the Netherlands senior team.
“But Nigeria is not a country that you just choose because you cannot play for your homeland. The competition there for attackers is perhaps just as great as in the Dutch team.
“Nigeria has Boniface from Leverkusen and Osimhen from Napoli. And they have many more attackers.
“It’s not like I can think for a moment: The Netherlands isn’t calling, then I’ll choose Nigeria. Are they even pulling on me? Maybe.
“But my dream has always been the Dutch national team. And the European Championships are not necessarily a crossroads. Like, if that doesn’t happen then, I’ll look further.”
He added, “I’d be grateful if it did happen. If not, I have to make sure they call me. You hope to be there one day.”
