Super Eagles midfielder Kelechi Nwakali few days ago was unveiled as FC Barnsley’s player npflupdates.com reports.
The English League One outfit agreed a three-year deal with the former Arsenal FC youth teamed.
The move to England has got so many Nigerians and supporters of the player talking; with many showing signs of disappointment.
According to the former Huesca player, he anticipates winning titles with the club during his period of stay.
What Nwakali said after joining FC Barnsley
“I am very happy to sign for Barnsley Football Club. I spoke to Mladen and the Head Coach Darrell earlier in the summer and I knew that this was an exciting opportunity for me, I know I can bring a lot to the team. I am looking forward to being back in England and making Oakwell my home for the next three years,” Nwakali told Barnsley’s official website.
Meanwhile, former Super Eagles Goalkeeper turned sports pundit Peterside Idah said the move was as a result of the player’s laziness and lack of discipline.
What Peterside said about Nwakali’s move to England
“We’ve followed his story for years, everyone knows Nwakali. When God gifts you a gift, your work is what will enhance your gift. The boy is a lazy player, an undisciplined player, sorry to say this. He doesn’t know what he wants from life, I don’t know who his friends are. Someone needs to sit him down, and mentor him. You know how football is, before you know it, he has spent 3 years and he’s 30. Once you’re around 28, 29, 30, there’s a countdown”, said the former player.

“As a young boy who played well at U17, you’ll expect him to have hit his peak. Next thing you know, he’s playing for Rivers United and he has faded. So, some of these young players need someone to speak to them, someone they can answer to. They say the way you lay your bed is how you lie on it, so we wish him all the best”, Peterside added.
Nwakali is expected to join his teammates as they kickstart campaign for promotion to the EFL championship.
