Former Super Falcons forward Desire Oparanozie has identified the 2010 Women’s African Cup Of Nations (WAFCON) as her greatest moment with the national team npflupdates.com reports.

Oparanozie was with Nigeria’s Super Falcons when they won the 2010 edition of the WAFCON; then she was still playing the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL).
According to the former Delta Queens forward, tye 2010 WAFCON title, is one out of various achievements she cherish so dearly and forever.

“My first WAFCON trophy in 2010 was the most special moment. I was very young then and winning the WAFCON at that young age meant a lot to me and I cherish it dearly,” she told PUNCH extras.

Speaking further, the 29-year-old ex international revealed playing against top opponent countries is a huge challenge she faced in her international time.
Super Falcons are nine-time African champions, and a lot of teams both from and outside the continent wants to beat them. A situation, which Oparanozie explained as being her greatest challenge.
“A lot of countries come at us because we are the team to beat because of our success and what we’ve achieved. Whenever we are coming up against these countries they want to put in their best and that is a big challenge for us because a lot is expected from us,” she said.
“We represent Africa at the world stage and people expect us to do well and that is also a big weight on us but often time we try to do our best but it is not always easy.”
Oparanozie who represented Nigeria at four different FIFA women’s world cup tournaments; stressed that her best FIFA world cup outing was in 2019, where she captained the team.
Before the 2019 world cup, Oparanozie was made Super Falcons Captain by coach Dennerby; and the team would go on to reach the knockout stages as best losers.

“The 2019, World Cup was the best because firstly I was the captain of the team and secondly the drama we had to go through to qualify for the round of 16,” she said.
“There was a lot of permutations and checking other countries results. It was so tiring but also the best.”
