FC Lugano goalkeeper Sebastian Osigwe has confirmed he’s interest in taking the responsibility of Super Eagles’ goal ahead of the AFCON qualifier.
The Super Eagles will return to action in June for the second of AFCON qualifier match against Sierra Leone.
And with the absence of Jose Peseiro’s first choice goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho, a new goalie is expected to take charge.
Uzoho will miss Super Eagles’ match away at Sierra Leone after he got a booking in Bissau last month. The Omonia Nicosia shot-stopper was booked, by match official for time-delay; and will not be available for selection.
The choice of the new goalie going by those available for the Guinea-Bissau clash is between Victor-Sochima and Chijioke Aniagboso.

But out-of-favour Super Eagles invitee, Sebastian Osigwe has made public his interest in the task.
Osigwe is not a new name in the national team having been invited in the past. He was called-up in 2020 by former Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr.
And now, he wants to challenge for a spot in the national team. The former has not represented Nigeria in any competitive fixture. And he feels now is the time for him to do that.
In an interview with OwngoalNigeria, the 29-year-old said his abilities are enough to let him take the responsibility.
Osigwe Express Desire In Super Eagles Responsibility:
“Of course. I feel I am ready for the next phase,” he said.
“I will be more than happy if I am considered for the games. Because, I have what it takes to be the first choice goalkeeper of Nigeria.”
Speaking further, the former Kriens goalie said his experience and familiarity with the older players is an added advantage.
“My experience, age and also familiarity with players in the team is another edge.”
Meanwhile, Super Eagles newly recruited goalies, Victor Sochima and Chijioke Aniagboso, would also want to have a shot in goal.
But, another serious goalie in contention is Adebayo Adeleye of Hapoel Jerusalem. The young goalie helped his team finish within the European playoffs in the Israeli Premier League.
