Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro identifies Napoli forward Victor Osimhen as his favourite striker ahead of the 2023 African Cup Of Nations (AFCON) tournament npflupdates.com reports.
 Victor Osimhen after the missing the last edition of the AFCON (in 2022), without any injury (or personal reasons) will be leading Super Eagles attack in Ivory Coast.

Nigeria is seeded in Group A as host nation Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau. And the three-time African champions will have to overcome the challenges of the group if they can win a fourth AFCON title.
And with the likes of Super Eagles Captain Ahmed Musa, vice-captain defender William Troost-Ekong, Kenneth Omeruo and FC Nantes winger Moses Simon not guaranteed spots in the starting lineup these days in the Super Eagles Peseiro is upbeat that Osimhen has the credentials to become the captain of the Super Eagles and lead the team to glory.

When, asked if Nigeria’s fate at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) is in the hands of the 26-year-old; Peseiro told  the media that it’s “fundamental”.
The former Sporting CP gaffer, admitted that Osimhen is an important asset to the team, that it will be of no use hiding it.
“It’s fundamental, there’s no point in hiding. The team is strong, but Victor… is Victor. I met him at the Bernabeu before the match against Real Madrid, we chatted in the hotel and I saw him calm, recharged. I told him that he will be our flagship in Ivory Coast,” Peseiro was quoted by Allnigeria.

“He is a hard worker, a leader without armband, a tireless person. I am sure that he will become the next captain of Nigeria.”
Meanwhile, Osimhen will arrive Morocco later today ahead of the 2023 CAF award ceremony that will hold in Marakesh, Morocco.
The former Olympique Lille forward will contend with former Chelsea winger Mohammed Salah and Paris St-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi for the men’s Player Of The Year (POTY).
