A former governor of Anambra state, Mr. Peter Obi expresses sadness over the sudden death of Tansi International College Awka, Anambra state npflupdates.com reports.
At least nine Senior Secondary School students of Tansi International College Awka, were last weekend struck by thunder, leaving three dead while six others were responding to treatment.

According to a source who craved anonymity, the students were playing football and training ahead of a tournament in the rain when the ugly incident took place.
Based on what we gathered, the coach of the students had ended the training session, but she students remained behind to play; and some of them were playing barefooted.
“The students were playing on the football pitch with their coach in preparation for a football tournament,” a source told Pulse Sports.
“The coach had ended the training session before the rain started, but some of the students stayed behind to continue playing football,” he continued.
“Lightning, accompanied by claps of thunder, suddenly enveloped the area, and the boys were struck in the process.”

While reacting to the news, Peter Obi who’s the Presidential candidate under the Labour Party at the 2023 General Elections in Nigeria, expressed sadness.

According to Peter Obi, it’s an unfortunate incident; also he commiserated with the bereaved families, friends, students and management.
“I am greatly saddened by the unfortunate natural disaster that happened at Tansi International College, Awka this weekend. It was reported that 9 students of the College were struck by thunder, on Saturday, November 4, during a rainstorm,” Peter Obi said in an X post.

“Sadly, 3 of the students lost their lives, while the rest are responding to treatment at the hospital. I commiserate with the bereaved families, students, and management of the College. May God give all the strength to bear this great loss.”
