The intrusion of football academies in Nigeria by scouts from European-based clubs is not coming to an end anytime soon with the arrival of Belgian outfit Royal Antwerp.
In the past European clubs through their scouts will come to Nigeria football academies in search of grassroot Footballers. On one of those occasions, KAA Gent forward, Gift Orban was scouted and taken to Norway by Stabaek.
Also, Slavia Prague defender Igoh Ogbu, and winger Francis Etu were spotted by scouts from Rosenborg and HJK Helsinki respectively.
Recently, Belgium Jupiler Pro League outfit, Royal Antwerp, stormed an Abuja-based club Hypebuzz FC for Victor Uddoh.
Similarly, KAA Gent, last year signed striker, Ahmed Abdulahi from Hypebuzz.
Victor was part of the Golden Eaglets team that played in the WAFU B U-17 Championship qualifier match in 2021. He has been instrumental in his position as a left-back.
He was chosen by Coach Fatai Amoo for the fixture that took place on January 5, 2021.

According to a report by Belgian media outlet, Voetbalkrant , the 18-year-old agreed to terms and signed for the Red and White.
Another report by a Nigerian media outlet, Naija Sports, said the teenager has been unveiled at the club’s sport complex.
And a picture uploaded at NaijaSports Twitter handle, showed the teenager holding a jersey with his name and number printed.
Why Royal Antwerp arrived Nigeria:
“Royal Antwerp FC in the Belgian Pro League has completed the signing of 18-year-old Victor Uddoh. Congratulations Udoh,” Naija Sports wrote on its official Twitter handle.
But, no official statement from the club was found at the club’s official website in respect to the transfer. The details of the transfer remained sketchy as at the time of filing of this report.
At Antwerp, Victor will team up with compatriot Alhassan Yusuf. They will help the club challenge for the league title and also a European spot finish.
