What Super Eagles William said about harsh weather in Ivory Coast
Head coach José Peseiro, talked about how his players performances were negatively affected by the weather condition in Abidjan, which has relatively high humidity.
Troost-Ekong who captained the team against Equatorial Guinea as team captain Ahmed Musa sits out insisted that the Super Eagles must brace up for the challenge ahead.
According to the POAK defender, the harsh weather is not affecting only the Super Eagles, but other teams as well. So, it can’t be used as an excuse when they fail to win matches.
“The weather is harsh but is not affecting only us, it’s affecting the other teams too,” he told Daily Post in Abidjan.
“We can’t use that as an excuse, that’s not the ideal thing to say.
“We have to brace up to the challenge and fight hard. We did well in the first game, just that we wasted a lot of chances.
“We just have to work on that and keep the spirit for the next game. I believe we will come out with a positive result.”
The Super Eagles will take on host nation and Group ‘A’ leaders Ivory Coast on Thursday as they hope to win its first match in four consecutive competitive matches.
