What Musa saud about Super Eagles and 2026 world cup journey
“The Super Eagles are in a very difficult situation right now but we believe in our selves that we can still scale through,” Musa was quoted by BluePrint.
Soeaking further, he said: “Super Eagles cannot be absent from the 2026 World Cup. It is going to be a big disaster for Nigerian players not to be at the World Cup.”
Super Eagles in the fifth position in group C with South Africa, Rwanda, Zimbabwe and Benin still hope to qualify.
The Super Eagles striker believes that the Rwanda game is the key to turning around Eagles’ fortune.
“The important game is Rwanda. If we can get the three points from that match it’s going to be a turning point for us. But it is not just a job for the Super Eagles alone.
“Every Nigerian must be involved because we need their support,” he added.
In a similar story, former defender Douglas Bolaji urges Nigerians to support new coach Eric Chelle.
Chelle will be in charge of the Super Eagles for the first time against Rwanda on the 21st of this month. And last week, the gaffer released a 39-man provisional list for the two world cup qualifiers.

“He probably has his reasons for this list. But there are names on that list that have no business being there based on their form,” Douglas, who won the now-rested Cup Winners Cup title with BCC Lions in 1990, told NationSport.
“Which begs the question what is the criteria for selecting players to the national team these days?
“I don’t know how this list was arrived at or what informed the choice of the players, so it is best one sits back , wish the team well and watch what unfolds.”
Speaking further, Mr Douglas insists winger Ahmed Musa and Kelechi Iheanacho are not needed in the Super Eagles at the moment.
Based on his statement, he argued that the Super Eagles is not a rehabilitation center where players come to rediscover form.
“It is easy to spot the names. Ahmed Musa has served the nation very well; i don’t see what he is still doing there. He is blocking someone’s position. Kelechi Iheanacho has struggled this season. Those two readily come to mind,” Douglas added.
“The national team should never become a rehabilitation centre or a place to come and wind down from the hectic demands on the players by their clubs season.

“While it may be said that now is not the time to experiment with new players, it can equally be said that there should be no room for those not on top of their games,” he said
He further advised that “Chelle must bring his top game to show doubters that he is the best person for the job.”
