A former Nigeria international Nduka Ugbade throws his weights behind the inclusion of Ahmed Musa in the Super Eagles squad for the 2023 AFCON tournament npflupdates.com reports.
Musa was included in the Super Eagles 25-man final squad that will hope to win Nigeria’s fourth Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) title.

The inclusion of Musa in the squad raised a lot of dusts as some Nigerians queried his inclusion in the national team. Some argued that the former VVV Venlo winger has overstayed his welcome, and should make way for younger players.

However, Ugbade want Nigerians to accept and support Musa. The former international highlighted that younger players in the team will bank on his experience.
“Musa is a player that understand the Africa Cup of Nations having played in the tournament several times.
“You deny the fact that sometimes you need a bit of experience in a team that will guide the younger players and that I feel played a role for his inclusion,” the Golden Eaglets coach was quoted by Complete Sports Nigeria.
He added, “Musa may not be playing 90 minutes for the Super at the tournament but his experience may come handy when the chips are down.”

Ugbade was part of the Golden Eaglets squad that won the FIFA U-17 world cup in 1995. And has since his retirement from active football ventured into coaching, scouting and harnessing talents from Nigerian setups.
