Ex-Liverpool player Steve Nicol canvas for the recruitment of Victor Osimhen as a replacement for Saudi-bound Mohammed Salah; npflupdates.com reports.
Osimhen guided Napoli to its first ever Scudetto(Italian Serie A title) in more than three decades. He also finished as the Italian Serie A Best striker and highest Goalscorer with 26 goals in the 2022/2023 season.

To crown his achievements from the previous season, the 25-year-old won the CAF player of the year award; slugging off competition from Mohammed Salah and Achrag Hakim.
And this season, Osimhen despite spending a couple of games out on the sidelines due to injury, has managed 15 goals and four assists in 27 Serie A games.
Jurgen Klopp’s men who were on a trophy hunt for all four trophies at the start of February have been left with not many options after Saudi club renewed interest in the Egyptian.
After winning the Carabao Cup, Liverpool lost their FA Cup quarter-final game to Manchester United. They also went ahead to lose to Crystal Palace last weekend losing grip on the first position on the EPL table.
Should the former FC Basel winger, and EPL Golden Boot winner decide to leave Liverpool, Steve Nicol believes signing Osimhen would be a perfect response.
Osimhen a better replacement for Mohammed Salah
“The fact that Salah is leaving, whether this year or next year, Osimhen? I think he would be fantastic for Liverpool. In the middle of the park, we’ve just signed Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, Endo’s turned out to be incredible, you need someone who will run all day and give it to Mac Allister, Szoboszlai and Salah,” the 62-year-old said on ESPN FC and was quoted by Soccernet Nigeria.
In another story, 2012 AFCON winner Efe Ambrose kicks against an Osimhen and Boniface’s partnership in the Super Eagles.
According to the former Celtic Glasgow defender, the two players play in the same position, and wouldn’t be at their best when paired.
“Two good players playing in two different teams with different formations is different from playing in the same team with a different formation,” Ambrose told OwnGoalNigeria.

“They are both point man at their clubs, so having both play for Nigeria will mean one playing out of position or one dropping to the bench.
“Boniface plays in a formation where he is at the peak of the attack to receive the passes, just like Osimhen at Napoli. Playing both in a 4-4-2 formation looks good on paper, but they could be a problem of players running into each other’s space in the box.”
