It was a difficult start to the game for Zubairu Aliyu’s boys, who trailed less than ten minutes into the game. But would later find their feet; equalising from a thunderous strike from outside the box.
Three important things which was observed from the mouthwatering encounter are the following:
1) Flying Eagles qualifies for the U-20 AFCON:
The U-20 boys with tye victory over automatically qualifies for the next edition of the Confederation of African Football(CAF) AFCON U-20 tournament. The West African football zone uses the WAFU tourneys as a means of qualification for age-grade tournaments.
(2) Nigeria will stand a chance to retain its crown:
The Flying Eagles following today’s victory over Niger will have a chance to defend their crown against bitter rivals Ghana. Nigeria was the winner of the last WAFU edition; they’d further reach the semi-final of the last AFCON U-20 which was held in Egypt. Zubairu and his boys now have a chance of writing their names in the history books of the nation’s football.
(3) The improved link-up play amongst the players:
The performances of the players have since after their defeat against Burkina Faso improved a great deal. The players looked more coordinated both in the attacks and defense. This is good for the team, as it will help them tackle head-on any opposition standing on their way to glory.
Nigerians are hoping to see the Flying Eagles beat the Black Galaxies of Ghana to retain their dominance in the region.
