Golden Eaglets defender, Yahaya Lawali has dedicated his AFCON U-17 Man-of-the-match award to his teammates and manager npflupdates reports.
The Golden Eaglets on Sunday, beat Zambia to start it’s AFCON U-17 tournament in a positive way.
The Nigerian team after the first-half ended in a stalemate despite dominating the possessions, broke the deadlock in the second-half.
Player, Favour Daniel, reacted first to a lose ball in the Zambian box. And struck home from close range to give the Eaglets their first win.
And all efforts by the Zambians to restore parity in the game was refuted as the Eaglets held their positions.
Expressing his excitement, Yahaya Lawali said, the award meant a lot to him. And is a massive encouragement, winning it in the first game of the campaign.

“I am really delighted, and this means a lot to me. Being named man of the match in the first game for the team is a massive encouragement,” The Mahanaim FC player said, as quoted by CAF Online.
“This is not my trophy, though.” he continued.
“l”It belongs to the team; the coaches, the staff and my teammates. We all worked hard for this.”
Speaking further, the 16-year-old admitted that the Zambian team is a good side, hence, they had a tough game.

“It was a really tough game because Zambia are a good side. The little details gave us a win today. We scored when it mattered most and we defended well. It has given us motivation for the next game,” he retorted.
The Golden Eaglets will come up against Morocco at the Mohammed Hamaloui Stadium, Constantine on Tuesday.
And a win against the Moroccan team will see them qualify for the next round of the competition.
And the team’s final group game fixture will be against perennial rival South Africa, next weekend.
