2 Important Takeaways As Falconets Beat Defeat Morocco In Cape Coast

The Falconets (U-20 women’s football team) of Nigeria is currently top of their group at the ongoing 2024 All African Games (AAG) in Ghana; npflupdates.com reports.

The Falconets defeated it’s first group stage opponent Morocco 2-0 on Friday evening to go top of their group.

It was a keenly contested fixture, though the Nigerian girls dominated a better part of the encounter. And as a result of their ever relenting attack against the North Africans, forced them into scoring an owngoal early into the game.

With just five minutes to the stoppage time, the 2024 FIFA U-20 women’s world cup tournament finalist extended their lead through Yina’s strike. So, by the end of the first period, Nigeria were leading 2-0.

Two important things was observed and for the sake of clarity will be highlighted below:

First, the Christopher Danjuma’s girls were very organised, playing possessive football while at the same time aggressively attacking the opponent after losing possessions. One would now see the reason why they will be one of Africa’s contingent at U-20 women’s world cup tournament.

“Thank God we have qualified for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Colombia 2024; we want a good justification by coming here and exciting ourselves and knowing that we are able to match every other team that has qualified for the World Cup,” Coach Danjuma told a press conference before the Morocco match.
