2023 AFCON: Peseiro Ready To Unleash Undiluted Rare Tactics Against Angola

Super Eagles head coach, José Peseiro, is on course to helping Nigeria win its fourth Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) title npflupdates.com reports.

Peseiro and his boys had their first training on Tuesday after beating the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon last Saturday to reach 2023 AFCON quarter-final.

The Portuguese manager at the AFCON had the Super Eagles endure a 3-4-3 formation to the dismay of supporters. Interestingly, he’s been able to win matches convincingly.

It’s no longer news that Peseiro normally approve behind close-door training during sessions where tactics to be used in an upcoming match will be practiced.

A close to the Super Eagles team told NPFLUpdates that the former Venezuela coach is working on a new tactics that he will use against Angola on Friday.

According to the source, the players have been notified about the tactics, and they’re already gearing in that direction.

“I can tell you that coach(José) is working out something serious and interestingly new and different from what is already known,” he said.

“The formation for the Angola fixture isn’t revealed, but there’s surely some changes from the pattern used against former opponents.”

He added, “The players are already aware and have embraced it. We all hope it will favour us.”

In a related story, Peseiro revealed that tactical strategy was the major reason forward Kelechi Iheanacho didn’t play against Cameroon last Friday.

According to the former Sporting CP manager, Iheanacho may have gotten a game time if the three-time African champions were in dire need of goal.

“I understand Kelechi’s [Iheanacho] talent and capabilities,” the former Saudi Arabia coach was quoted by Legit Nigeria.

“But I prefer not to dwell on individual situations. All players are important, including those who haven’t played, like Kelechi.”

The New Telegraph reported The tactician insisted that introducing the former Manchester City star was not necessary to the strategy of protecting the lead they’re already enjoying against Cameroon.

“If we needed to score against Cameroon, Kelechi might have come on. However, our focus was on protecting the lead. Bringing him in wasn’t necessary for our tactical strategy,” Peseiro added.
