Jordan Torunarigha : Peseiro Explains Why Player Did Not Have Game Time

Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro admits that defender Jordan Torunarigha will have game time in the future npflupdates.com reports.

Super Eagles invitee, Jordan Torunarigha was an unused substitute on Sunday when the national team thrashed Sao Tome and Principe.

A hat-trick from Napoli’s Victor Osimhen ensured that national team had a comfortable win against their visitors. Also, goals from Taiwo Awoniyi, Ademola Lookman and Samuel Chukwueze added to the woes of the True Parrots of Sao Tome and Principe.

Speaking to the media after the game, Peseiro revealed he was the reason why Jordan couldn’t make a debut.

According to the Portuguese, he can only start eleven Players, and bring in five substitutes.

Peseiro explains no game time for Jordan Torunarigha

“About Jordan, I can only pick 11 and bring in 5 substitutes. I made the decision that stopped him from playing,” Peseiro was quoted by Owngoal Nigeria.

“It was me who spoke with him(Jordan Torunarigha) last season and asked him if he wants to play with us. He said okay he will do anything possible to play with us. He didn’t play today, he can play in the future.”

“Onyedika has been here two times this is the first time he is playing. Tyronne Ebuehi also. Jordan is his first time and he has time.”

Speaking further, the former Sporting CP manager, appreciated the indigenous people of AkwaIbom for their reception. Also he extended his appreciation to the government of the day, who ensured fans attended the match by throwing the stadium gates open.

“I’ll like to say congratulations to the people and Government of Akwa Ibom because I see today was a fantastic atmosphere,” he stated.

“The fans were fantastic today, I say thank you. I like the people here, everything provided for us was good.”

Interestingly, Peseiro highlighted that the Super Eagles played with maximum commitment. Adding that all played for him, as he was the one that assembled them.

“Our players played with maximum commitment. They want to play for me, I assembled them to win AFCON Cup and today they have shown good commitment in their play.

“Normally if you play against a team that is not strong everybody relax, but today they did not relax. It is fantastic game by the players, 6-0 is very good,” Peseiro said.

“Orban felt something in his muscles, he cannot play with Injury of course. Because we need to show responsibility as a team. For the club we have a good connection with the club’s. And we can not play injury player for nothing.

In a related development, team captain Wilfred Ndidi who spoke on behalf of other the,  said the result of the game will motivate them in future competitions.

According to Ndidi, “when you win a game it gives you more confidence. It is actually a good game that will give us more confidence for the next game of world cup qualifier, of course 6-0 is good confidence for next game.”
