Fans of Nigeria’s Super Eagles are asking for the exit of coach Jose Peseiro citing poor performances of team under his watch.
The Super Eagles under the Portuguese had its worst outing in more than three decades, losing four consecutive matches. And the most devastating loss happening in Abuja against Guinea-Bissau in an AFCON qualifier fixture.
But, since after the loss, the Super Eagles has gone two consecutive matches unbeaten; winning Guinea-Bissau and Sierra Leone.
And last week, the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, hinted that the fate of Jose Peseiro whose contract has expired lie in the hands of fans.
And if what the followers of npflupdates on Facebook is what to go by, then the 63-year-old reign is over.
Super Eagles fans want Jose Peseiro out of the national team
“Sack him oo. Super Eagles and Nigeria as a nation can’t settle for less when it has to do with contracting football coaches.
Who is even Peseiro in coaching,” Valentine Chimelum said on Facebook.
“A coach with no track record. And the game against Portugal gave him out. Olodo! The local coaches can do better if they don’t end up being corrupt in their player selection. The trio of Amuneke, Finidi and Ladan Bosso is good. By the way, we don’t need Salisu near any of our football team,” Kayode Bayo Agodenu said.
Akinsola Austine Oyebode added, “Let him go! He seems to have very little knowledge about Nigerian football. And a technically sound coach that understands Nigerian football should be hired. There’s still enough time before AFCON. And there’s a pool of players for any good coach to choose from.”
However, other Nigerians like Edward Unuigboje, are calling for more time for the former Sporting CP coach.
According to Edward, the tactician is supporting grassroot football in Nigeria.
“Give him chance… Him supporting grassroot players speaks volume. Give him sometime and BELIEVE in him,” he said.
And if the Ibrahim Gusau led NFF sacks Jose Peseiro, then, Salisu Yusuf who’s the only contracted assistant coach may likely take over on interim basis. And may take charge of the senior team until after the AFCON in Ivory Coast next year.
Let him go , he doesn’t know how to use our players to achieve the maximum results for the country.
Don’t bring Salisu Yusuf in . You can talk of the recent flying eagles coach he is far better than Yusuf
