Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka remains upbeat that the national team has the necessary arsenals to go to Ivory Coast next year and win its fourth African Cup Of Nations (AFCON) title npflupdates.com reports.
The Super Eagles qualified for the 2023 AFCON tournament billed for Ivory Coast next year, and was seeded in the same Group A as host nation Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau.

Frank Onyeka upbeat Nigeria’s Super Eagles can win the 2023 AFCON
According to the Brentford combative midfielder, Nigeria have a good team that can defy all odds to win the AFCON. The 25-year-old stressed that most African countries, are always afraid when they come up against the Super Eagles.
“I think we have a good team that can go and do it. Most of the other countries, they are scared of Nigeria,” Frank told Livescore ahead of the 2026 FIFA world cup qualifier fixture against Lesotho last Thursday.
“I say that because of the squad we’ve got, we can go there and win it.
“You’ve obviously got Osimhen, Boniface, Awoniyi — they are all doing well in Europe.
“So we’ve got a good team and we can go and win.”
Speaking further, the former FC Midtjylland player confessed that the players currently in the team needs to remain focused so as to make Nigeria proud.

“We have plenty of past players who have done well for Nigeria but now for us as players, we need to focus on ourselves and as a team to do what we need to do to make our nation proud.”
He adde, “We do [have pressure] because Nigeria is massive, we have a population of about 200 million.
“So every game, every tournament, they always expect us to win. There’s always pressure for us.

“But it’s good because you can see the country, they all watch football and they want us to do it.
“So that’s a good thing for us and motivation to do our best.”
In a related story, the Super Eagles is yet to secure its first victory in the ongoing CAF world cup qualifier matches.
The three-time African champions drew 1-1 with the Crocodiles of Lesotho last Thursday in Uyo AkwaIbom State. They also drew 1-1 with the Warriors of Zimbabwe last Sunday in Butare, Rwanda.
The team currently boasts of two points from a possible six.
