Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro, unveils three crucial steps he will deploy to ensure Nigeria wins a fourth Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) title next year, npflupdates.com reports.
Peseiro on Friday, unveiled a 25-man squad for the 2023 Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Ivory Coast. The former Sporting CP gaffer is saddled with the responsibility of helping Nigeria win a fourth title, after winning its last a decade ago.
According to the former Venezuela coach, the first step towards winning the AFCON is to qualify from the group stages.

The Super Eagles are in Group A, alongside host nation Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea Bissau.
“It starts with getting out of the group. That is the first step but if we can qualify as group leaders that will be an added advantage,” Peseiro was quoted by Vanguard Nigeria.
The second step, according to the coach is for the defenders to raise their game, and ensure they don’t concede too many goals, as conceding goals may hamper the chances of the team.
“We have to really defend well when we get out of the stage group. That is a must because in the knock out round, defending is very critical and key to your progress.”
However, he was confident the Super Eagles defenders, the likes of Oluwasemilogo Ajayi, Calvin Bassey, Kenneth Omeruo amongst others can do the job.
In the same way, Peseiro is confident that Super Eagles attacking line parading the likes of Victor Osimhen, Victor Boniface, Kelechi Iheanacho among others would score goals(outscore their opponents where necessary).
“The attack we know can score goals. Even the defenders can join the attack and score but you have to defend it,” he said.

Peseiro added, “when you have your defence not conceding goals, the confidence in the team flows even to the attack and the result is always good for the team particularly for a tournament you want to win.”
