A popular Nigerian singer, Wasiu Alabi Odetola, popularly known as Pasuma, reveals he started his career as a footballer; npflupdates.com reports.
According to Pasuma, he had turned to music profession after he failed to make the Nigerian squad for the 1985 FIFA U-16 World Championship in China.

The successful Fuji musician, disclosed this while attending questions from media personality Iyabo Ojo.
Per his statement, he and a few of his friends from a club back them in Shogunle were invited to camp, but he failed to make the final cut.
What pasuma said about his football career
Meanwhile, during that time, legendary musician, Alhaji King Wasiu Ayinde, was making waves globally after releasing his “Talazo” musical album in 1984.
“In 1984, Alhaji King Wasiu Ayinde released an album called ‘Talazo ’84’.’ The album was everywhere; worldwide.
“So, I decided to go into music because I was a footballer. I was invited to CODAK 85 [1985 FIFA U-16 World Championship]. I was among four players picked from a club in Shogunle.
“Unfortunately, I wasn’t picked to go to the World Cup, so that was when I decided to go into music,” he said.
The 56-year-old added, “I was a professional footballer. So, that was how I ventured into music. The rest is history today.”
Reacting, a fan identifiable as Sunny, disclosed that Pasuma was a great footballer during his early days. And would have probably gone ahead to become one of the greatest if he had not choose a musical career.
“I’ve learnt a great deal about him. Especially from an elder in our neighborhood who saw him play as kid. He’d have become one of football greats if he had sticked to football; all the same he’s doing well in his musical career,” he said.
