Coach of the Djurtus of Guinea-Bissau, Baciro Cande has taken a swipe at the S’Eagles of Nigeria after a win at the Abuja national stadium on Friday.
Guinea-Bissau won the first leg of their AFCON qualifier double-header matches against the S’Eagles of Nigeria in Abuja.
Esperance Sportive Troyes Aube Champagne forward, Mama Balde, scores in the 29th minute to give the visitors the lead. Efforts by the Super Eagles to restore parity in the first half proved abortive as the visitors stood their grounds.
Goal-scoring chances were created in the second half by the home side, but the Guinea-Bissau team held on to their lead to get three points.
The win against Nigeria means that the three-time African Champions have now lost five consecutive times. The first time they’d be doing such in their history.
Guinea-Bissau now top their group with one seven points, one point bigger than nigeria.
Reacting after the game, Baciro admitted Nigeria created goal-scoring chances, butbhe insisted they deserved the win.
According to the former Amora player, big names do not play football on the pitch.
He revealed his team studied Nigeria style of game, how coach Jose Peseiro sets up his team, and the best way to attack.
What Baciro Cande said about S’Eagles
“This victory is for Guinea-Bissau people,” Baciro said in a post-match press briefing.
“We respect all the Nigerian players, but big names don’t play football on the pitch.

“We did a thorough analysis of the Super Eagles players, and how the coach usually set up his team. And the boys did the rest by sticking to our game plan with resilience and determination. It paid off with Balde scoring what proved to be the winner.”
“For the second leg, we shall go back to plan how best to play Nigeria. Of course, we will be going for another victory. We still respect the Eagles despite our victory today(on Friday),” he continued.
“They(Super Eagles) tried to do everything to beat us and created many scoring chances, but we deserved to win.”
