What Aghaghowa said about Super Eagles players
“It happens to some players. It’s very rare to find players consistently performing well for both club and country,” Aghahowa was quoted by Brila Nigeria.
“If a player is doing well at their club and not so well in the national team, the person might need time and the right pieces around them to truly compliment and build chemistry.”
The former Wigan Athletic forward also highlighted the unique demands of international football.
He stressed the importance of work ethic and a sharp mindset, especially for strikers.
“Strikers need to hustle on the pitch. Particularly in the national team, you need a killer mentality.
You must have an impeccable work rate,” the 42-year-old stated.
“The appointment of a coach for the Super Eagles will always generate a lot of interest,” Ikpeba said during an interview on Brila FM Radio with former Super Eagles star Ifeanyi Udeze.
In another story, former forward, Victor Ikpeba canvas support for the new Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle.
According to the former Borussia Dortmund forward, supporters of the Super Eagles must rally round the coach since it’s the decision of the Nigeria Football Federation NFF.
“This is one of the biggest countries in Africa, and that’s the passion that comes with the national team. Even if we had appointed Pep Guardiola (Manchester City coach), there would still be complaints. If there are no arguments, there won’t be success.”
“A decision has been made on a new coach by the NFF, and we have to support it,” Ikpeba stated. “Eric Chelle is a young coach who will succeed with our support.
