Germany international Karim Adeyemi finally reveals the reason why he couldn’t switch allegiance to the Super Eagles of Nigeria despite being eligible npflupdates.com reports.
Karim Adeyemi born in Germany to a Nigerian father, Abbey Adeyemi, and Romanian mother, Alexandra Adeyemi, is eligible to represent Germany (place of birth), Nigeria(through his father) and Romania(through his mother). But instead, he chose Germany, his place of birth, despite various speculations linking him to the three-time African champions.

Karim who’s currently in Nigeria for his winter holidays, conveyed his deep connection to Nigeria. And also at the same his willingness to represent the nation if circumstances had been different.
Having featured in Germany’s U-16, U-17, and U-21 teams before the senior national team call-up, Adeyemi, was recognised as a talented prospect by the German FA. And that can be traced to his impressive performances at Austrian giants Red Bull Salzburg, where he won the Austrian Bundesliga title.

Speaking to Soccernet Nigeria when he visited his football academy in Ibadan, the 21-year-old publicly acknowledged his love for the Green and White colours of Nigeria.
According to the former Red Bull Salzburg winger, Nigeria has a great team, that’s consist of great players.
“If I had the chance, of course. For me, I think it’s a great national team, [and] in the future [they] will be great, they have good players, and in the past, [they were] also great,” the Borussia Dortmund winger said.
In another story, Adeyemi who told reporters after a UEFA Champions League game against Chelsea last season that he loves Nigerian local dish(Fufu), revealed the current CAF Player Of The Year (POTY) Victor Osimhen is the best African player.
In his expression, Adeyemi praised Osimhen’s ability to replicate good club form in the national team. Osimhen finished last season as Serie A’s highest goalscorer with 26 goals; also, finished 2023 AFCON qualifiers with highest number of goals 10.

“I’ll say the best (Nigerian and African) player for me is Victor Osimhen because he plays good in his league and also in the Champions League, he does both very good so he’s the best for me,” Adeyemi confirmed.
