Ivorian football legend Didier Drogba is wary of the Super Eagles ahead of the 2023 edition of the African Cup Of Nations (AFCON) tournament npflupdates.com reports.

In Ivory Coast, Nigeria will hope to win its fourth African Cup Of Nations (AFCON) title, after winning it’s third ten years ago.

Drogba who led the Ivorian Elephants to the finals of the 2012 edition of the tournament where they lost 8-7 on penalties to Zambia, highlighted the quality of the Super Eagles.

Drogba wary of powerful Super Eagles team

According to the former Chelsea forward, Nigeria with Victor Osimhen, and other quality players is a “big team.”

“There’s no such thing as a generous draw because all the teams deserve to be here and they’re going to fight,” Drogba, who scored 65 goals for the Elephants was quoted by PUNCH.

Speaking further, the former former Ivory Coast captain, highlighted the Elephants should take every match serious as some smaller teams can pull up surprises.

“Nigeria, with Victor Osimhen and all the players they have, is a big team. We mustn’t forget the other two teams because there are always surprises,” the former Galatasary SK forward said

He added, “I think that our main asset will be to focus on our game, our team, our strengths and try to progress. It’s up to us to make the most of it, get behind our team and make sure the trophy stays at home.”

Meanwhile, Jose Peseiro has called up 27 players for the 2023 AFCON, with embattled goalkeeper Francis Uzoho making the list.
