Victor Osimhen confirm interest in CAF Best Player Award

Super Eagles forward, Victor Osimhen, has sent a signal to the Djurtus of Guinea-Bissau ahead of Friday AFCON clash with a Hat-trick on Thursday evening NPFLUpdates reports.

The way the Super Eagles attack will look against Guinea-Bissau may have been settled, with Thursday training session.

Osimhen who established himself as first choice striker, was paired in the attack by coach Jose Peseiro. And the Napoli marksman returned a Hat-trick of goals.

Moffi who’s in fine form for French club OG Nice, may likely start from the bench against Guinea-Bissau alongside Paul Onuachu.

Speaking to the media ahead of the crucial fixture, Osimhen promised to score lots of goals against Guinea-Bissau if presented with the opportunities.

The 24-year-old however, insisted that a win against Guinea-Bissau is his top priority and not getting on the score-sheet.

“Hopefully, I can get a lot of goals for the team, as much as I can when I get the opportunities,” he told the media in a press conference.

“But then, even though I do not get this, I want the team to win. I want us to have these three points, because it is important for us in our campaign, and I’m really looking forward to it.”

The former Lille Olympique Sports Club forward, expressed excitement being a part of the team again.

Osimhen missed a couple of matches for the Super Eagles through injuries. He wasn’t on duty when Nigeria lost disgracefully to Portugal last November.

The last time the both teams met in a competitive fixture was in a group game at the AFCON 2022, in Cameroon. Nigeria won the encounter with two second half goals from Sadiq Umar and William Troost-Ekong.
