According to the Portuguese gaffer, Bameyi is versatile and can give him a lot of options at the back.
Peseiro explains Bameyi invitation:
“I chose Bameyi because he is a defender, can play as the right-sided central defender and right-back,” the 62-year-old said in a pre-match press conference Thursday evening.
Meanwhile, team Captain Ahmed Musa, who’s invitation sparked reactions has also explained his intentions towards the national team.
“Definitely we will honour our country, no matter what,” Musa told NFF TV in a pre-match press conference on Thursday.
“Whoever they called, they have to come. I do not have to listen to anyone, I’m the one doing my job. If my coach do want me to stop, I will stop.
“I am playing always for my club. Why do you want me to stay at the national team.”
“If the coach don’t want to call me anymore, then I will stop,” the former Leicester City winger continued.
“But if the coach always want me to be in the national team, I will always honour that,” he concluded.
