The 23-year-old is already having his sights on the 2023 African Cup Of Nations (AFCON). According to a statement accredited to him, he’s publicly acknowledged interest in representing the Super Eagles.
The current Super Eagles team boasts of powerful players in the attacking department in the likes of Victor Osimhen (Africa’s Most Valuable Player), Victor Boniface (Nigeria’s second most valuable player), Kelechi Iheanacho, Moses Simon, Samuel Chukwueze, Terem Moffi, Paul Onuachu, Taiwo Awoniyi, and Umar Sadiq; but despite that, Akor Adams is upbeat of breaking into the team.

“The target is simple – score more goals with my club before the end of the year that it will be impossible for the Super Eagles to continue to overlook me going into the AFCON,” Adams told the media.
In a related story, Montpellier coach, Michel Der Zakaria expressed excitement as to how fast Adams adapted in the French Ligue 1. Per the coach, it takes some players time to adapt, before they can start scoring goals, but that’s not a thing attributed to Akor Adams who made an instant impact.
“Our surprise has been seeing him score immediately, but that’s football. Andy Delort went a long time without scoring a goal, Elye Wahi as well,” he said and was quoted by The PUNCH Nigeria.
“We knew it would take some time to adapt to Adams. He needs to adapt, but others do too, they should want to play with him. We looked back on the match against Rennes and he made many good runs, but he wasn’t fed. Players in possession of the ball should see things and should want to give him the ball, especially in behind.”
Few years ago, Adams left Nigerian side Jamba FA to join Norwegian second-division side Sogndal in 2018. Then it was initially on a loan deal, before making the move permanent.
