The Super Eagles of Nigeria gets a boost in their defending department following the interest of belgium-born Shawn Adewoye to switch his allegiance.
Shawn Adewoye, born in Belgium to Nigerian parents recently admitted speculations linking him to the national team.
And the youngster who ply his trade in the Dutch Eredivise for RKC Waalwijk is interested in representing his fatherland.
And by his assertions, it seems the youth team caps which he has enjoyed with the Belgian national team is not a problem.
Last season, the 23-year-old featured in thirty-three games for the Dutch side. And in those matches, the center-back recorded one goal and assist, helping his team stay afloat in the Eredivise.
However, he is bothered as to whether the senior national team is aware of his eligibility to represent Nigeria. Because, he didn’t get any call or message from officials considering his feat with the club last season.

Still, he is not flinching on whether to snub Nigeria in the near future, if they insist on not handing him a call up. But instead, he is optimistic that his time at the national team will come; and then, he will grab it with both hands.

“Why not? I am open to playing for Nigeria,” he told Owngoal Nigeria.

“Because I am qualified to represent them despite playing for Belgium. But I doubt if they know about my eligibility. Because not even a contact or call for all I did last season. It’s never too late and I will keep hoping I get my chance.”
