Super Eagles forward Victor Boniface will no longer make his Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) debut following a groin injury npflupdates.com reports.
Boniface has been ruled out of the 2023 Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) after a scan to his groin revealed his injured, and will be spending weeks on the sidelines.

The former Bodø and Glimt forward few weeks ago was included in the Super Eagles 25-man AFCON squad thanks to his fiery form in Germany. With Bayer 04 Leverkusen this season, Boniface has scored over fifteen goals in all competitions, and contributed to Leverkusen’s unbeaten run in over twenty games across all competitions.
The former Royale Union Saint Gilloise attacker made his Super Eagles debut last September, in an AFCON qualifier fixture against Sao Tome and Principe in Uyo, AkwaIbom State.

The 23-year-old was left out of the Super Eagles squad that beat Al Gharib(an Abu Dhabi based club) yesterday. Also he misses Nigeria’s defeat to Guinea today through injury, and will now not debut in the AFCON.

In another story, popular football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano also announced via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle that Boniface is injured; and will be out of action for six weeks.
“Victor Boniface will miss the AFCON for Nigeria due to groin injury, he’s expected to be out for six weeks,” Fabrizio posted.
“Massive blow for the Super Eagles and one more injury to manage for Bayer Leverkusen.”

The Super Eagles will return to Nigeria on Tuesday, and will be treated to a dinner by the Lagos State Governor His Excellency, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and Sports Development Minister Senator John Owan Enoh alongside other dignitaries.
The three-time African champions will depart the shores of the country for Abidjan on Wednesday morning via a chartered airplane.
