Chelsea Denies Sunday Oliseh Interest

An English Premier League football club Chelsea FC has denied spreading speculations linking it to a former Super Eagles Manager Sunday Oliseh, NPFLUpdates reports.

Speculations spread two days ago that Chelsea is interested in the former Super Eagles international.

And according to our findings Wednesday afternoon, Chelsea looked interested in the services of the former K.A.S Eupen Sporting Director. And it was rumoured the Nigerian serve in the capacity of an assistant coach to club’s head coach Graham Potter.

But a source close to the former UEFA Champions League winners told NPFLUpdates correspondent that the English club was never interested in Sunday Oliseh at the moment.

What Chelsea said about Sunday Oliseh:

” Chelsea is not interested in Oliseh at the moment. Our coaching crew are okay. So, there’s no such room for him in the team,” he said.

And, the source revealed the 48-year-old was in London to see a game between England U-21 and Croatia U-21 internationals.

The match was held at the Craven Cottage, home ground of another London club and Chelsea’s neighbour, Fulham.

“Oliseh arrived London to see a game between England U-21 internationals against Croatia U-21. So, he’s not here for any negotiation with Chelsea. Maybe in the future, we’ll see and talk. But for now, nothing in that nature is ongoing.”

So, further investigation revealed the Olympic Gold medalist arrived London and lodged at the Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge hotel. And from there he’d go and see the Tuesday clash between the two nations.

“Fulham stadium is the venue, watching England U-21 take on Croatia in London for D UEFA Pro License Refresher, on invitation by the ever resourceful English FA. Impressive youth development from both team” Oliseh wrote on his verified Twitter handle Tuesday.

“Always a pleasure lodging at Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge hotel. This iconic Gianlucca Valli’s portrait is touching as is inspiring. R.I.P Grande Lucca,” Oliseh tweeted after taking a selfie outside the Stamford Bridge.

Sunday Oliseh was appointed Super Eagles manager in 2016. But, resigned from his duty shortly after over non-payment of his salaries and that of his assistants.

And since after the Super Eagles job, Oliseh had a short spell at a German Regionalliga club, Straelen.
