Securing the allegiance of Chelsea winger Carney Chukwuemeka will now be herculean after the Austria Football Association joined the race, npflupdates reports.
The teenager according to TALKSPORT has been presented with an offer to switch sides to the Austria national team.
Carney is eligible to represent Austria through his place of birth. Because he was born in Austria, Eisenstadt, to Nigerian parents. But he moved to England as a toddler with his parents, and that was where he started his career as a footballer.
Last year, he made a big move to the Stamford Bridge from Aston Villa. And has since his move lacked game time under managers Thomas Tuchel and Frank Lampard.
He has represented England at various youth levels U-17, U-18 and even under-20. He made his England U-20 debut on 21 September 2022, in a match against Chile.
With Ralf Ragnick in charge of the Austria Men’s national football team, he’s interested in the services of Chukwuemeka.
Chukwuemeka is characterized by speed, one-on-one dribbles and shot-accuracy. And will be a boost for the Austrian side.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Football Federation NFF, under the leadership of former President, Amaju Pinnick was tracking the teenager.
Amaju Pinnick Was Close To Convincing Chukwuemeka To Represent Nigeria
A source confirmed to our correspondent that Mr. Pinnick was close to convincing the player to play for Nigeria. But, what transpired and he couldn’t come remained between the two of them.
“Amaju(Pinnick) wanted the player and other two players to represent Nigeria,” he said.
“But I don’t know what happened and the kid didn’t come again. And then, we all think he was close to bringing him to the national team.”
“Now that Austria has joined the race for his services, Nigeria may no longer be an option. And remember, he’s still English. If he snubs England, I think Austria will be his next target,” he added.
