Tottenham Hotspur defender Destiny Udogie, has opened up for the first time since he confirmed his allegiance to the Italian senior men’s national team npflupdates.com reports.

Destiny Udogie was born in Italy to Nigerian parents. As much as he is eligible to represent Nigeria through his parents, he is also eligible to represent Italy as a country of his birth. And it seems the 20-year-oldnhas chosen the latter.
Udogie confirmed his international allegiance to the Azzuris after he received a national team call-up. The youngster was called up last weekend by coach Luciano Spalleti, as he hopes to provide more options at the back for the former world champions.
Before the invitation, there are speculations that the Nigeria Football Federation NFF, is already in talks with the player and his representatives over a possible switch of allegiance to Nigeria. Nigeria is looking to strengthen its squad, ahead of the next edition of AFCON in Ivory Coast next year, and also the upcoming 2026 FIFA world cup qualifiers.
It now seems effort to lure Udogie to the Green and White colours has hit the rocks, as the player already expressed excitement with his call-up.

“It is an honour to wear this shirt, Forza Italia,” he wrote, posting a recreated picture of his young self watching his goal celebration in an Italy kit.

He also posted some images of the Azzurri’s 2006 World Cup victory in the background.
Destiny Udogie has made eight appearances with Italy U21, and will no hope to break into the starting XI of the senior team.
