Ejuke : Because Of Outstanding Boniface, I Will Have To Go To Leverkusen

Chidera Ejuke ends one year goal drough.

Super Eagles winger Chidera Ejuke is hoping to meet with his old time friend Victor Boniface at Leverkusen npflupdates.com reports.

Ejuke and Boniface struck up a relationship many years ago when they were still playing amateur academy football in Nigeria. And of course, both forwards met again in Europe at Norwegian side Valerenga in their early days off the shores of Africa.

After Ejuke failed a trial at Liverpool, his next stop in Europe after leaving a Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) outfit Gombe United was at Valerenga. There, he was able to nurture his talents for two years between 2017 and 2019.

During that period at Valerenga, Real Sapphire academy forward Boniface Okoh arrived on trial. He however failed his probation test and couldn’t nail down a contract with the Oslo-based club.

However, Boniface later signed for a former Norwegian champions Bodø and Glimt; and frequently sees Ejuke who at the time was still with Valerenga.

Boniface now plying his trade in Germany few months ago made out time to visit Chidera at the training complex of Royale Antwerp. The former Henreeven player now wants to replicate the gesture with a visit to Leverkusen.

“He was there for me, yes,” Ejuke, was quoted by PUNCH, when talking about Boniface’s presence inside the Antwerp training complex.

“We have been friends for a long time. We used to live very far away from each other, but we met at youth tournaments and started talking.”

Recalling on how close he was to becoming teammates at Valerenga, Ejuke said:

“He was on probation but was not allowed to stay. Fortunately, he ended up at another Norwegian club (Bødo/Glimt, ed.), and we were able to meet up regularly. We still do that now; I hope to be able to go to Leverkusen soon.”
