Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama, breaks silence as to why he didn’t apply for the vacant coaching position at the Super Eagles; npflupdates.com reports.
Enyeama was arguably Super Eagles’ best goalkeeper since 2002. He helped Nigeria win its third Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) title in 2013.

Recall, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is yet to find a permanent coach for the Super Eagles following the exit of José Peseiro post 2023 AFCON tournament.
According to the former Maccabi Tel Aviv shot-stopper, he didn’t deliberately avoided applying for the position. But didn’t apply because he wasn’t certified at the time the position was listed.
What Enyeama said about Super Eagles coaching position
“No, no, no. It’s not that I am not interested; it’s just that I am not certified,” Enyeama told Vanguard Nigeria.
“For you to be able to coach the Super Eagles, you must be certified. That’s the minimum standard.
Speaking further, the former Olympique Lille goalie revealed most of his time has been channeled to the growth of his hotels.
“That’s the number one reason, and the fact that I have been very busy developing and managing my hotel has taken a lot of my attention, and that business is the most important thing for me now.
“So football is like number two for me now, unless just one day the Nigeria Football Federation says, ‘Please come and share your wealth of experience in this area with these players,’ then it becomes a different thing altogether.

“For now, I have to wait until I get the necessary certificate before I can say this is where I want to coach or the area where I can support the national teams.”
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is expected to announce a new Super Eagles coach before weekend.
Sources has it that coach Emmanuel Amuneke, Torrent Domenec and Antonio Conçeicão are the three finalist still in contention.
