A former Super Eagles Captain Vincent Enyeama has finally opened up in why he retired suddenly from international football npflupdates.com reports.

Enyeama was part of the Super Eagles team that won Nigeria’s last African Cup Of Nations (AFCON) title in South Africa 2013.

The former Maccabi Tel Aviv shot-stopper, retired from international football almost a decade ago, and continued playing only club football until his retirement few years ago.

Enyeama talks about his retirement from the national team

According to Vincent, since his retirment from international football, he hasn’t been following the affairs of the national team with keen interest.

The former Olympique Lille goalkeeper, confessed putting up a block between him and the Super Eagles.

“I’ve not been following Nigerian football since the day I left the national team; with due respect, I was treated like a piece of used material. So I put up a block between me and the national team,” he said as quoted by Vanguard Nigeria.

“It’s now that I’m beginning to follow what is going on, but I put a stop to watching the national team because I was deeply hurt.”

Vincent in action for Nigeria

Speaking further, Enyeama declined commenting on the recent crisis rocking the Super Eagles goalkeeping department. Per his statement, he won’t make such statement as he doesn’t follow up the team’s activities more often.

“I’ve moved and changed chapters. I can’t say much about the national team or the goalkeeping position because I’m not watching them.”

The former CAF Champions League winner, confirmed winning the AFCON in 2013 and winning consecutive CAF Champions League titles with Enyimba were some memorable moments of his lucrative career.

“I can’t pick a memorable moment, but winning the AFCON in 2013 remains one of the best moments, as did winning on the continent with Enyimba in 2003 and 2004. I had other memorable moments in my career,” he said.

In anothe story, Napoli forward Victor Osimhen has been nominated for the 2023 edition of Globes Soccer Award. He will be competing on the Men’s Best Player Category with the likes of Nicolò Barella, Jude Bellingham, Karim Benzema, Yassine Bounou, Antoine Griezmann, Ilkay Gundogan, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Robert Lewandowski for the prestigious award.

Other nominees are, Lautaro Martínez, Kylian Mbappé, Lionel Messi, Kim Min-Jae, Luka Modric, Cristiano Ronaldo, Harry Kane and Vinícius Jr.

Oshoala has also been nominated for the Women’s Best Player award for the first time.
