Enyimba Denies Antonio Conte Move

A Nigeria Premier Football League powerhouse, Enyimba Football Club has denied considering a move for erstwhile Tottenham Hotspur coach Antonio Conte NPFLUpdates exclusively reports.

Antonio Conte few days so left his position as the Tottenham Hotspur manager after spending a couple of years.

The reason behind the sudden departure of the former Juventus Turin manager remains sketchy though speculations has it that he fell out with club owner, Daniel Levy.

Conte’s spell at the London club was his second spell as a manager on English soil, having previously managed Chelsea Football Club.

At Chelsea, the Italian won the English Premier League in his first season using Diego Costa as his main attacker.

Since the news of his departure went viral, several clubs have expressed interest in his services.

Speculations says, a former Confederation of African Football(CAF) champions league winner, Enyimba is also interested in his services.

According to the speculations, the most decorated NPFL club, wants a return to African club football domination.

Enyimba won the CAF Champions League back-to-back in 2002/2003 and 2003/2004 seasons. They dominated African club football, and wants a return to the top level after enduring a hard time in continental tournaments in recent times.

According to a source close to the Aba-based club, Enyimba is not in search of an European coach.

Enyimba denies Antonio Conte interest:

“Enyimba is one of the biggest club in Africa, having won the CAF Champions League back-to-back. Fewer clubs in the past have successfully defended the CAF Champions League title,” the source said Monday morning.

“Yes, we want to return to winning ways, we want to dominate African football like we’ve done two decades ago. But we don’t need a foreign coach to be able to achieve that.

“All we needed is proper funding and supports like we experienced back then. Enyimba have what it takes to take on any club. We’re hoping that the new in-coming governor Dr. Alex Otti will look at the club.”

Speaking further, he said the governor-elect is a sports loving man, and is bent on improving the youths.

“He(Alex Otti), is a sports loving man. And knowing how the youths supported his election will surely invest in sports. We’ve planned and will meet him after his inauguration into office.

“We trust the capability of our coach, Finidi(George), he can give us good results with rights things in place” he rounded saying.
