Golden Eaglets defender, Yahaya Lawali, is seriously being considered by top European football powerhouses npflupdates reports.

Lawali, is a 16-year-old Golden Eaglets defender, who impressed at the recently concluded AFCON U-17 tournament in Algeria.

The right-back featured all of the Golden Eaglets’ four games at the U-17 AFCON tournament. And impressively, he won two Man-of-the-match awards.

With the Man of the Match awards coming against both Zambia and Morocco. And due to his performances, the versatile defender was also included in the group stage Best XI by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Meanwhile, according to a report by The Guardian, the Mahanaim FC player who because of his versatility can also play as a left-back and defensive midfielder is drawing the attention of top European clubs like Chelsea, KAA Gent, Barcelona and some other clubs.

“Remember that he won the man of the match twice and was selected in the Group Stage XI by CAF at the U17 AFCON.”

Speculations spread last week that the kid is expected to sign for Belgian outfit KAA Gent this week. According to the report, the kid will sign a pre-contract agreement with the club. And will stay with the team’s reserve and academy until he’s cleared to be integrated into the main team.

If the deal is becomes a success, then, he will team up with compatriot and Super Eagles prospect, Gift Orban.

It’s sad that the Golden Eaglets under the tutelage of Nduka Ugbade, couldn’t clinch a FIFA U-17 World Cup ticket. The team suffered a shocking defeat at the hands of perennial rivals, Ivory Coast in the quarter-finals.
