“I’m Not Like Osimhen” Ex Flying Eagles Forward Plays Down Comparison

Former Flying Eagles forward Chukwubuikem Ikwuemesi opens up on the differences between him and Napoli forward Victor Osimhen npflupdates.com reports.

Chukwubuikem in a recent interview with Owngoal Nigeria said he’s not comparing himself with compatriot Victor Osimhen.

Osimhen finished last season as Serie A highest goalscorer with 26 goals, and was also awarded Serie A best striker. The former Olympique Lille forward, helps Napoli win its first ever Scudetto title in more than three decades with his goal-scoring prowess.

Ikwuemesi joined Italian Serie A side Salernitana Calcio from Celje last summer, and has then found it hard to adapt to life in Italy. The youngster so far this season has managed a total of two goals and one assist in all competitions for Salernitana.

Speaking to Owngoal, the 22-year-old confessed he has some striking differences with the FIFA U-17 world cup winner.

Ikwuemesi plays down Osimhen comparison

“I am not like Osimhen,” he said.

“We are both different in so many ways, even though his feat and the success he has recorded so far is worth emulating. I will not like to out myself under any sort of pressure by comparing myself with Osimhen who is already established at this level,” he continued.

For Chukwubuikem, being a top player “is a slow process” and hopes he would “get there with the help of God.”

In another story, former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama has been honoured with a Doctorate Degree by the University of Uyo.

The former Maccabi Tel Aviv shot-stopper, received the award last Saturday, and has already made a lot on his verified Instagram handle.
