Joseph Atule opens up on Rivers United speculations

Lobi Stars playmaker Joseph Atule as opened up on speculations linking him to former Nigeria Premier League Champions Rivers United.

Reports making rounds has it that, Joseph has agreed to terms and will be joining the Port-Harcourt based club after the Super Eight.

And according to the report, the 22-year-old will earn to the tune of Six Hundred Thousand Naira (600,000) salary.

However, the player has come out to say a contrary. Because, according to him, no agreement has been reached by both parties. But he admitted, the former NPL Champions has made contacts with his representative.

In his statement as quoted by top football Nigerian media outlet, Brila, what he was offered by Rivers United is not worth his services. And according to him, he earns more than that at his present club.

“No, it’s not a done deal because I’m still in talks with Rivers United,” the former Cleopatra FC player was quoted by Brila.

“What they are offering me is not what I desire, as I am currently earning more than that at Lobi Stars.”

Speaking further on the type of remuneration he expects from Rivers United, he pointed to earning one million Naira. And also a sign-on fee of four million(4,000,000) Naira for a two-year contract.

“I requested a monthly salary of one million Naira. And four million Naira for my signing-on fees over a two-year contract,” he continued.

And while revealing the response he got from the club’s official, he said the club’s chairman is aware.

“The chairman mentioned that we have no issue with those figures. That was our last conversation, and negotiations were paused there,” he added.

Last season, Joseph Atule, scored five times and provided five assists for Lobi Stars in seventeen matches.

Outside the shores of Nigeria, the youngster has played in Egypt and Asia.
