Two second-half goals from Doucoure and Dobbin, ensured that the Merseyside Blue emerged victorious, despite Chelsea’s efforts to restore parity or even snatch a win.

Reacting to the result, Mikel opined that Osimhen who finished last season as Italian Serie A highest goalscorer can score a lot of goals in the EPL.

“Cucurella is not Chelsea standard. We need to see more from Caicedo and Enzo – two really good players who need time. Broja is not at the Chelsea level. I have my doubts on Jackson. We need a striker. Victor Osimhen would give us goals WHEN he comes to Chelsea,” the former Trabzonspor playmaker was quoted by X (formerly Twitter) user @siphillipssport.

In a related development, Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro, has confirmed that Osimhen can be the national team’s flagship at the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast.

Peseiro when asked if Nigeria’s fate at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations(AFCON) is in the hands of Osimhen, said;

“It’s fundamental, there’s no point in hiding. The team is strong, but Victor… is Victor. I met him at the Bernabeu before the match against Real Madrid, we chatted in the hotel and I saw him calm, recharged. I told him that he will be our flagship in Ivory Coast.
